Ras Purnima or Ras festival is the most important festival of sanatan Vaishnava community. The world Ras is derived from the word sentiment, where the word sentiment means by divine feeling , love , devotion. In the Bangla, Chaitanya Dev beginning the Ras festival of Radha Krishna.

Lord Krishna was in Rasalila along with Radha in Vrindavan on the full moon tithi of the month of Kartik. That tithi is observed as Ras Purnima. So Raas Purnima is one of the most important festivals of the Hemanta season. Raas festival is celebrated for the union of God and superme soul. Manipuri tribals of Bangladesh organize Ras dance on this day.
